Edited & with a commentary by Robin Blaser. Printed in May 1975 in Santa Barbara & Ann Arbor for the Black Sparrow Press by Noel Young & Edwards Brothers Inc. This copy is signed by Robin Blaser on the limitation page, with the words "Binder's Copy." From the publisher- "Jack Spicer, born in Los Angeles, 1925, died in San Francisco, 1965. A poet who found his public space in the bars of North Beach, he was more a public poet than many of his contemporaries and friends. He was there to be met and he was there night after night to push younger poets into the possibility of their poetry. Much of the life in poetry between 1957 and 1965 in San Francisco circled around his belief in and recognition of the necessity of the practice of poetry- not as a higher life, but as the movement and care of what we are in place. He was in this sense, for all the critical and radical mode of his poetry and thought, the least alienated of contemporary poets- in touch with the quickness of ordinary language as he was in love with baseball."
