This set is uniformly bound in handsome full leather tan bindings with decoratively marbled endpapers, pastedowns and textblock edges. The spines are banded with elaborate and delicate gold gilt. Volume 5 is missing a section of spine cover and the rest have various chipping and rubbing to the ends and raised sections. The boards have rubbed edges. The front covers of volumes 6 and 8 are coming loose from the bindings. The textblocks are consistently firmly bound. The textblocks show a typical amount of dusty marks and general age in line with an early 1800s collection, but the toning is pleasantly mild for books of two centuries.
