Neuware - I was born in a village from where it was extremely difficult to travel to the city. In the rainy season it was possible only by sitting on a palanquin on people's shoulders upto main road, thirteen kilometers away through forests and fields, the Amghat-Faizabad road and in summer by horse, bullock cart or on foot. The Amghat was on this side of the Gomti river and due to the absence of a bridge few buses that ran would go only till there and sometimes one had to wait for hours for their return. There was also a fear of male buffaloes, bulls and wolves in the forest. My village was located in the most backward area of ??the district. When I was a few months old, my mother came to Faizabad with me as my father was doing service here and his younger brothers were pursuing their studies. Gradually when I left this place for higher education, the time never came to live here permanently. After receiving education at various places, when I came to Sultanpur, I spent my entire service there and after retirement came to Lucknow with my family to settle down. If I look at my past, then by the grace of God, I have lived my life happily and prosperously while fulfilling my family responsibilities and making proper efforts, for which I repeatedly thank God. This book is a collection of my experiences and memoirs based on true events and there is no intention to hurt anyone's feelings. शेष विश्व से अलग एक द्वीप जैसे गाँव में मेरा जन्म हुआ था जहाँ से शहर आना जाना अत्यंत ही कठिन था। वर्षा ऋतु में तो यह असंभव ही हो जाता था। लोगों के कन्धों पर डोली पर बैठ ही संभव हो पाता था। घोड़ा, बैलगाड़ी अथवा पैदल ही चार कोस अर्थात लगभग तेरह किलोमीटर जंगलों और खेतों के मध्य से होते हुए फैजाबाद से आमघाट मार्ग तक पहुँचना होता था। यह आमघाट गोमती नदी के इस किनारे पर था और नदी पर पुल न होने के कारण जो एक्का दुक्का बसें चलती थीं, वहीं तक जाती थीं और उनके लौटने की प्रतीक्षा कभी कभी घंटों करनी पड़ जाती थी। जंगल में भैंसे, सांड़ और भेड़ियों का भी भय बना रहता था। मेरा गाँव जनपद के सबसे पिछड़े क्षेत्र में स्थित माना जाता था। बताते हैं जब मैं कुछ माह का हुआ तो माता जी मेरे सहित फैजाबाद आ गयी थीं क्योंकि पिता जी यहीं सर्विस कर रहे थे और उनके छोटे भाई लोग अपनी पढ़ाई। धीरे धीरे मैं बड़ा होता गया और फिर उच्च शिक्षा के लिए यह स्थान जब छूटा तो फिर स्थायी तौर पर यहाँ निवास का समय कभी नहीं आया। विभिन्न स्थानों पर शिक्षा ग्रहण कर जब मैं सुलतानपुर आया तो पूरी सर्विस वहीं व्यतीत कर अवकाश प्राप्त कर अंत में निवास करने सपरिवार लखनऊ आ गया। यदि मैं अपने अतीत पर दृष्टि डालूँ तो ईश्वर की कृपा से मेरा जीवन पारिवारिक दायित्वों का निर्वाह और यथोचित पुरुषार्थ करते हुए सुख समृद्धि के साथ व्यतीत हुआ है जिसके लिए मैं ईश्वर का बारम्बार आभार व्यक्त करता हूँ। यह पुस्तक मेरे अनुभवों और सत्य घटनाओं पर आधारित संकलित संस्मरणों का लेखन है और किसी की भावनाओं को ठेस पहुँचाने का कोई मन्तव्य नहीं है। व्यक्तिगत निजता प्रभावित न हो इसलिए पात्रों व स्थानों के नाम परिवर्तित हैं ।
