History of Ancient Indian Subcontinent Harappan Civilisation Vedic Life Jainism and Buddhism Later Vedic Perido and The Epic Age Republics and Kingdoms (6th Century-4th CEntury B.C.) Invasions of Persian's and Greek's Mauryan Rule Era of Ashoka Post-Mauryan Time Gupta Rule Era of Harshavardhan Political And Cultural Conditions in Southeren Peninsual (550-750 A.D.) Ancient India has nothing to claim as the spectacular political and military achievements of its national governments, like the wars of aggression against foreign powers, territorial acquisitions abroad, colonial exploitation of foreign lands and the people, enslavement of foreign nationals or forcible conversion of the vanquished to their dogmatic creeds on the analogy of the Arabic and Turkish religious crusaders of the medieval ages or the modern ‘national states’ of Europe. The Vedic civilization is the culture associated with the people who composed the religious texts called the Vedas, in the Indian subcontinent. It stretched from what is today Punjab in India and Pakistan, NWFP (Pakistan) and most of northern India. This work would be useful for social scientists, research scholars and teachers in India and abroad.
