Yes, this is an unusual Christmastide, and our celebration is not without alloy. But as gold seven times tried is freed from dross, so may we in the furnace of trial and tribulation have our minds so purified that we may discern more clearly between the destructive forces of Evil, and the peace producing principles of the Glad Tidings heralded at the birth of the Babe of Bethlehem.

May our eyes be thus opened and our hearts properly attuned in our worship this day.
