In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. This book offers the first detailed comparative study of the seven best-documented early civilizations: ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, Shang China, the Aztecs and adjacent peoples in the Valley of Mexico, the Classic Maya, the Inka, and the Yoruba. Unlike previous studies, equal attention is paid to similarities and differences in their sociopolitical organization, economic systems, religion, and culture. Many of this study's findings are surprising and provocative. Agricultural systems, technologies, and economic behaviour turn out to have been far more diverse than was expected. These findings and many others challenge not only current understandings of early civilizations but also the theoretical foundations of modern archaeology and anthropology. The key to understanding early civilizations lies not in their historical connections but in what they can tell us about similarities and differences in human behaviour. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Sociocultural evolution is the most important concept that has guided social science thought over the past 300 years. Throughout this time it has, however, been fiercely contested and has changed as it has slowly discarded the providential concerns that originally characterized it. This book traces the gradual development of the concept of sociocultural evolution and relates how it is currently understood, and misunderstood, to the major political and cultural debates of the present day.

Draft script for the 1989 film here under the working title "Stiffs," noted on the title page as "Numbered Script," with manuscript marker and ink annotations on the title page, noting needed props and copy number "25," and a diagram on the verso of page 26. Printed on pink stock. From the archive of crew member Chris Scher. A black comedy, wherein Teri Garr stars as the unhappy and unfaithful wife to butcher Bruce McGill, who spends as much time philandering as he does working. Determined to take her husband for everything he has, she hires private investigator Randy Quaid to investigate. When McGill is locked in the walk-in freezer overnight and dies, his business partner, John Lithgow, blames himself for the death, unaware Quaid may have evidence to the contrary. An entertaining Coen-esque-lite comedy with a terrific cast. Chris Scher has worked in American films from 1994 to the present. She was a propmaker, construction accountant/estimator/buyer, and carpenter on over 20 movies, including "The Last Seduction" (1994), "Pulp Fiction" (1994), "From Dusk Till Dawn" (1994), "The Horse Whisperer (1998), "Joy Ride" (2001), and others. She also performed the same work for prestige television dramas, including "The Bridge" (2014), "Ozark" (2017), and "Yellowstone" (2018). Set in and shot on location in San Pedro, Los Angeles.
