"Ce soir, mon Dieu, je viens pleurer, je viens prier et rompre sur Ta croix les reins d'un ouvrier dont le labeur stérile a négligé Ta gloire. La nuit du monde autour de Ton église est noire ; je viens puiser de l'huile à Tes feux éternels, loin de la joie humaine et des hommes charnels. Mon Dieu, je viens jeter à Tes pieds cette vie, dont chaque jour un clou haineux Te crucifie. Je suis le plus méchant des mauvais serviteurs. Ô Jésus, qui prêchais la sagesse aux docteurs, j'ai détourné le sens divin des paraboles ; j'ai, d'un grain vil, semé le champ de Tes paroles.
