He Is Best Known For His Book The Law Where He Argued That Law Must Protect Rights Such As Private Property, Not "Plunder" Others' Property. Bastiat Asserted That The Sole Purpose Of Government Is To Protect The Right Of An Individual To Life, Liberty And Property And That It Is Dangerous And Morally Wrong For Government To Interfere With An Individual's Other Personal Matters. If The Government Does Not Protect People From Such Harms, For What Reason Would They Pay Taxes To It? And What If People Want The Government To Go Beyond The Basic Protections, To Include Protecting It From Harms That Reduce Life Expectancy? ].
