He presumes that Bentley is aware that the Echo has 'recently changed hands', and announces that he is 'now the principal Editor, & I may say that one of our new features will be the prompt reviewing of all works which may be sent in by your firm & others'. Unsigned note by George Bentley: 'Tell Clowes [publishers of Temple Bar] to send me two proofs of this article here by return of post, & let me have this letter back as a reminder'.

Arthur Whittier Brown was the co-pilot on the first transatlantic flight in June 1919. Brown and John Alcock flew a modified Vickers Vimy from Newfoundland to Ireland to claim the Daily Mail prize for first nonstop transatlantic flight.
