Technology, Ziegler seems to be reminding us, is an algorithmic approximation of the chaos of the universe and not the guiding force it sometimes appears to be. The sunsets in the diptych The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse, then, might be a comparison of before and aftermath, of vastness and its mapping, while the poplars that hold the centre of The Admiral's House with gravitas,
