The author was educated at Dulwich and Shrewsbury, served with the Fleet Air Arm and then studied horticulture at Seal-Hayne College in Devon. He then worked in Niger ia for several years as a tobacco leaf buyer for the British-American Tobacco Company, while studying the plants of Nigeria. After returning to England and settling in Chichester in Sussex, he opened a nursery and garden center with a comprehensive range of plants, including many that are rare or unusual. Robert Wright with his signature to the half-title. 99pp. Perfectbound in printed wraps; spine toned; Extensively underlined and critically annotated by Fr. Wright. Rutler's dissertation on the essential symbolic value of the male priesthood came in response to the Anglican ordination of two women to the priesthood in 1971 and the ongoing disputation over their validity, which would escalate with the ordination of the 'Philadelphia Eleven' to the priesthood in 1974. Rutler left the Episcopal church soon thereafter and eventually joined the Roman Catholic church in 1979 and was ordained as a RC Priest in 1981.
