Die erste Ausgabe dieses öfters aufgelegten Lehrbuch der Heraldik war 1696 erschienen. - Immanuel Weber (1659 - 1726) studierte Theologie und Jus bei Professoren wie Christian Thomasius, Barthol Schwendendörfer, August Benedict Carpzov und Peter Müller. "In Gießen war durch den Rücktritt Gottfried Arnold`s die Professur der Geschichte frei geworden, welche nach Gutachten der ganzen Universität unserem W. am 26. September 1698 übertragen wurde. Hierzu kam im folgenden Jahre 1699 ein außerordentliches, juristisches Lehramt und die Verwaltung über die Universitätsbibliothek, welche der nun in württembergische Dienste getretene Johann Reinhard Hedinger bisher innegehabt hatte. . 1713 wurde W. zum ordentl. Professor der Rechte befördert, und 1715 wegen wiederholter Ablehnung der an ihn von auswärts ergangenen Berufungen durch Verleihung des Titels und Ranges eines fürstl. hessen-darmstädtischen Rathes, 1725 eines Regierungsrathes ausgezeichnet, nachdem er bereits 1697 comes Palatinus geworden.
