Volume 1 (Raven to Eastern Reed - Warbler), i-xvii, 381 pp, Volume 2, (Reed - warbler to Teal) i-vii, 384 pp, Volume 3, (American Blue - winged Teal to Red - legged Partridge), i- vii, 384 pp, 53 coloured plates by Philip Rickman. Brown buckram with dust wrappers, top edge gilt. Some light fading to the top of the spines of two volumes where they have been exposed due to corresponding loss to the spines of the wrappers. Some neat repairs to the spines of the dust wrappers which are now protected. Overall a very good set indeed of this impressive work. A book that has far greater interest than local coverage written by a outstanding field ornithologist and oologist. 19 pages alone are devoted to the peregrine falcon largely based on the author's observations in Sussex.…
