Hardcover. Zustand: VG-. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, full leather binding with black label on spine. The leather is original and untreated and shows wear to the edges and spine. Both boards show damage to the finish near the lower outside corners and the leather on spine shows cracking, particularly along the top spine hinge areas. Internal binding is in better shape with no major hinge issues. There is pulling at the front and rear boards with the front just starting to turn into a crack. The front end page and pastedown shows a diagram of a house layout in pencil, but the rest of the book is handwriting free. There is foxing and spotting present, particularly to the end pages and pastedowns, and a couple pages had small corner folds which have been straightened out. A rather uncommon printing as it only shows the publication date listed on the copyright page as 1844, but the opposite pages with the "Recommendations of Ray's Algebra" show dates as late as 1849. Despite with the copyright page states is likely this book was printed between 1851 and 1853, which falls more in line with the version that was printed by this publisher. In addition, the name on the title page appears to read "A. W. McGuffey, A. M.", When the author's name typically shows as W. H. McGuffey A. M. (William Holmes).
