In den WarenkorbFirst Edition. Mezzotints by Judith Rothchild One of an edition limited to 50 copies numbered and signed by the artist and poet Square 8vo Fine copy The text was composed in response to a series of four mezzotints by the artist. The four images are a sequence which can be viewed in series (when the pages are folded out to overlap), or as individual icons with textual accompaniment. The four deep black mezzotints give a mysterious tranquility to the beautiful yet everyday objects depicted. A leporello with fold-out concertina pages on which the mezzotints rest is contained in screen-printed black Somerset wrappers with end-papers marbled by the artist. The whole is contained within a matching noir printed slipcase.

In den WarenkorbIllustrated with a mezzotint by Judith Rothchild One of an edition limited to 45 numbered copies, signed by the artist 8vo Fine copy The original letter, addressed to the American people, was written by Hugo in response to the sentence of execution issued on John Brown in 1859, for his part in attempting to emancipate the slaves of Virginia. It was written while Hugo still maintained hope that the 'noble nation' of America, 'sister of the French Republic', would see its moral responsibility, and the Federation intervene to prevent Brown's killing. The passionate appeal is presented here in both the original French and as an English translation. Typeset by Mark Lintott and printed on BFK Rives using an Albion press. The print was produced by the artist on Hahnemuhle. Leporello binding with cloth hinges, the boards covered in marbled papers produced by the artist, in a matching slipcase.
