The Belgian Browning Pistols is set up in an easy reference format to assist both novice and advanced collectors. The history of Belgium, the factory and Liege are included to broaden the perspective one may have about the environment where these pistols were made and often used. The Belgian Browning Pistols is primarily intended for the U.S. collector's market and includes many of the pistols encountered in the United States. The book includes the 1899 compact, 1889 Large, 1900, 1903, Grand Browning, 1910, 1922, Grand Rendement, and High Power pistols. Licensed copies like the 1907 Husqvarna and Inglis High Power pistol are also included. Most of this work is set up chronologically to facilitate study. A photographic chapter on holsters was also added to further aid collectors. The FN Browning pistols were the most distributed pistols throughout history. The Belgian Browning Pistols is an excellent reference guide to understand where and when these contracts were filled. Long out of print. The Book is Fine with only light use. The first book to fully explore American production of foreign military rifles for the Allies during the First World War. The demands of the war caused a number of Allied governments to enter into contracts with American industry. These contracts resulted in the production of a number of different rifles. Featured are the histories of the Mosin-Nagant and Winchester Model 1895, which were produced for Imperial Russia, the Model 1889 Mauser, made for Belgium and the Pattern 1914 which was built for the United Kingdom. Additionally, the book provides rare insight into lesser known contracts for Berthier and Rolling Block with France, and the Savage Model 1899 with Canada. The historical circumstances of these contracts are presented for the first time. Primary source materials and original period documentation were used to recreate the timelines of the various contracts, delving into issues including financing, production limitations, labor problems, factory expansions, corruption, and the foreign military personnel who worked in the United States. The work sheds new light on the degree to which Anerican business was involved with the Allied war effort prior to the American entry into the war in 1917. Readers gain a multifaceted insight into the hardships that faced the Allied purchasing commissions and American manufacturers. In addition to the in depth historical perspective, the book offers a detailed description of each rifle intended as a guide for the arms collector. Starting with the earliest Browning designs and following through the the HP-35 "High Power" design, the book is both well illustrated and researched. A lot of focus is placed on the earlier designs, most of which don't get the appropriate level of respect from collectors. High quality and detailed photos of all the pistols are shown, along with the accessories for each.
