Fahrenheit 499 Magazine - June/July 2017: Volume 1, Issue 1

This is the premier issue of Fahrenheit 499 Magazine. Fahrenheit 499 is the product of a brand-new class at Oregon State University: New Media Communications 499: Special Topics — Trans-Media Publishing in Genre Fiction. The stories in this magazine are the fruits of that class. The class runs for two consecutive terms. In the first term, the students developed, wrote, and polished their own genre-fiction novelettes or novellas. And in the second term, joined by other students in the role of editors, they developed those novelettes and novellas into multi-media storytelling franchises, able to reach the market in as many ways as possible. This magazine, in which each story will be published over the next six issues as an old-fashioned pulp magazine serial story, is one of those ways. In addition, all of them are published as e-books. Most of them added a paperback or hardcover edition as well. Some are in audiobook form, and one or two of the especially art-heavy franchises are available as full-featured Apple iBooks. So you might think of this magazine as a menu, showcasing what each author has created, with a link at the end of each story to an on-line landing page from which it can be found in its various other formats.
