The first ever Western novel is often considered to be The Virginian by Owen Wister, published in 1902. From this point on, Westerns, especially Western short stories, gained popularity, especially through the new medium of pulp magazines. Guthrie Jr. (1947), which lead to an increased popularity in the genre. In the publisher's original pictorial paperback bindings. Externally, some shelf wear and edgewear to the extremities.
