NOTE: The preliminary pages, including the title pages, are bound after the index. Hard cover in half leather. The spine heavily decorated in gilt in compartments. Title 'Brett's Historical Series Early New Zealand' with decoration in gilt to upper cover. Short splits at head and foot of the spine. Slight edge wear. Scattered foxing to the end papers and to page edges. The text block clean. Old tape marks to one of the title pages. Pieces torn from the top margins of two leaves with no loss of text. A fair copy. (Weighs c.2.75kg so extra postage if shipped out of the UK). * The Mr. A. P. Freeman to whom the book was presented was the English cricketer who played 1st. class cricket for Kent either side of the First World War, taking in all 3,775 wickets, second only to Wilfred Rhodes. Freeman played in two Test Matches in Australia, in 1924-5 coinciding with the presentation of this book, and also played against the West Indies in 1928, and South Africa in 1927-8 and 1929.
