His main work was in classical studies, in all branches of which, including Greek music, he had a wide knowledge. He was editor-in-chief of the new edition of Liddell and Scott's Greek - English Lexicon (1925-40). His numerous publications (bibliography in Journal Rom. Stud., xxvii, 3-11) included an edition of Thucydides (Oxford Classical Texts, 1898), The Roman Empire, 1908, and A Companion to Roman History, 1912.

Chase Spent His Early Political Career Supporting "A Wide Range Of Reform Causes: The Single Tax, Women's Suffrage, Birth Control And Socialism." Chase's Early Books, The Tragedy Of Waste (1925) And Your Money's Worth (1927), Were Notable For Their Criticism Of Corporate Advertising And Their Advocacy Of Consumer Protection. In 1929 Chase Co-Founded Consumers' Research, A Consumer Protection Advocacy Organization. In 1932, Chase Wrote A New Deal, Which Became Identified With The Economic Programs Of American President Franklin Roosevelt. He Also Wrote A Cover Story In The New Republic, "A New Deal For America", Which Appeared Days Before Roosevelt Promised "A New Deal" In His Speech Accepting The Presidential Nomination Of The Democratic Party. Whether Roosevelt Speechwriter Samuel Rosenman Got The Phrase From Chase Is Unknown. Chase's 1938 Book The Tyranny Of Words Was An Early And Influential Popularization Of Alfred Korzybski's Theory Of General Semantics.

From Wikipedia: "The 311th came into existence in February 1944, at Bolling Field, DC, as the 311th Photographic Wing, and had its headquarters in the United States for its entire active period. Subordinate units, between February 1944 and August 1945, deployed to diverse areas of the world such as Africa, the Middle East, the China Burma India Theater, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and the Caribbean. These units conducted mapping and charting operations, and in some instances flew reconnaissance missions. After World War II, the 311th transferred to Continental Air Forces (later, Strategic Air Command) at Buckley Field, CO. In March 1946, it became the major reconnaissance organization of Strategic Air Command. The 311th was SAC's first major reconnaissance organization. [2] Its components were scattered around the world and moved several times. It was initially moved to MacDill Field on 17 April 1946, but a month later it was transferred to Andrews AFB. On 20 July 1948 it moved to Topeka AFB Kansas and a month later to Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. The 311th had five squadrons: 1st, 12th, 16th, 91st, and 46th/72nd recon squadrons. A nice item, giving an indication of Lewes's editorial principles at the Fortnightly Review (he held the position from 1865 to the following year). Addressed to 'R. S. Poole'. He begins by explaining that he only returned to England the previous night, '& found your notes & m.s awaiting me'. He finds Poole's article 'as full of matter as an egg is of meat & I have settled the question of Blank Verse by omitting altogether the pages relating to the Literature which are too scant for so large a subject, & which needlessly lengthen a paper already long'. He is returning the omitted pages, 'because you may work them into some other article'. 'The title of Lane's Arabian Lexicon', Lewes believes, 'would frighten away all but your Shemitic readers', and he has 'altered it to Pagan & Muslim Arabs', but he asks Poole to suggest any other title if he can, as 'for a popular periodical titles of papers are of no little importance. Men at the club are easily scared away from a subject which wd interest them, if they could be seduced to read'. The piece was published, under the title suggested by Lewes, in the Fortnightly Review. 15 October 1865.
