Stereoview, 6 7/8 x 3 ½ inches, the double-images showing two handlers squatting with cocks about to engage, with a group of watching men in the background. Very good.

3½" X 7" heavy card stock. bearing two side-by-side near identical sepia tone images. Very good. Light age toning per usual, corners rounded (as issued). One of the "Popular Series" cards (as printed vertically at left/right side of images), this closeup depicts a mangled fire engine lying on its side amidst timbers and clutter in a muddy landscape, a barren hill in the background. Stereoviews or stereopticons were the earliest form of 3-D images, being two near-identical views that, when viewed through a hand-held stereoscope, lent a convincing three-dimensionality to two-dimensional photographs. A superb example from one of the great disasters of late 19th century America.

Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. Radex (illustrator). Circa 1950s. Color printed book-shaped box, with light wear, slide images are slightly dusty (or perhaps it's the viewer). Inside the box is a Radex stereoviewer and six slides with brief text and scenes from Jack and the Beanstalk to be viewed through the viewer, appearing 3-dimensional. Uncommon to find complete sets in the original box and with Radex order form laid in.

As you approach the rim to get this view you have hardly any warning of what is before you; the whole stupendous immensity of the thing bursts on your sight almost in a moment, as you reach the edge of the bank.You can hardly believe your own eyes. Actually more than a vertical mile below your feet the Colorado River is tearing its way through the bottom of this terrific gash in the breast of the world.[.] The Cañion just opposite, where ragged walls at the west east such weird shadows over its dephts, is the valley of Bright Angel Creek. Major Powell`s published accounts of his exploration of the Colorado ("Canyons of the Colorado") give a thrillingly dramatic account of one of the most perilous journeys ever made by any explorer and tell how he named that tributary. The famous man on that rock yonder has done immense service to the world by interpreting the glories of the Cañion to other people`s eyes. One of his most celebrated paintings of the Cañion hangs in the Capitol at Washington. Photography. Zustand: Good + overall. A stereoview image of the railroad tunnel just north of Garrison NY with station master (?) in foreground returning from his daily inspection of the tunnel. From the 'Beauties of the Hudson River" series No. 8008-'09 with that and the title printed on the title label laid on the verso of the orange card. Albumen images bordered by the company name and address. Card is a little rubbed at edges but the image is clear.
