Rice (Dhan, Chabal) belongs to the genus Oryza (Family- poaceae, 2n=24) is the staple food for more than half of the world's human population. It is consumed as staple food for about 3.5 billion people across the whole world. Genus Oryza consist of two cultivated species O. sativa and O. glaberrima, and 23 wild species. Among the two cultivated speices O. sativa was dominated in Asian as well as Europe, South America region and O. glaberrima was mostly concentrated into the West African countries only. The Asian rice O. sativa was evolved from wild perennial O. rufipogon and wild annual O. nivaraand wild progenitors of O. glaverrima was O. longistaminata and O. breviligulata. According to Normille (2004) Oryza sativa was first domesticated between 8000-15000 years ago in India and China and river valleys of Yangtze, Mekon rice could be the primary Centre of origin of O. sativa while delta of Niger river in Africa is the primary Centre of origin of diversity of O. glaberrima. Among Asian countries rice production as well as consumption is highest whereas in Sub-Saharan Africa, Caribbean and Latin America, rice consumption is steadily increasing. Rice alone provides about 50% of the dietary caloric supply in around 520 million poor people in Asiatic countries. Rice is grown in 160.6 million hectares across the world with the total production of 738.20 million tones having productivity 3424.41 kg/ha (FAO, 2015). India is the Centre of origin of Rice and it is also the second largest producer of rice just after China. Thousands of ecospecies of rice had been evolved in India from the down of crop domestications. The ecospecies of japonica, indica and javanica have been generally recognized in O. sativa. Numerous rice landraces had been evolved due to random mutations and selection by the ancient farmers since centuries of rice domestications. India has a vast agroclimatic environmental conditions which gives suitable platform for tremendous genetic diversity. National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) and International rice research institute (IRRI) have been recorded and maintained more than 60,000 rice landraces of Indian subcontinent still now. India is popular for its native wealth of rice genetic resources and among these the large number of indigenous short grained, scented varieties cultivated in different pocket of various states of eastern India. Chhattisgarh popularly known as "Rice Bowl of India" and two other states namely Odisha and West Bengal have a significant amount o.

Rabi crops of rainfed areas are inflicted by several important insect pests, diseases and weeds. Correct identification of insect pests, diseases and weeds is therefore necessary not only for strict quarantine to check the spread of new pest species, but to achieve the desired productivity levels. The purpose of this publication entitled 'A Colour Handbook on Rainfed Rabi Crops: Protection, Constraints and Mitigation Strategies' is to assist the students, field researchers, agriculture department field functionaries, scholars and farmers in correct identification of these pests and their management thereof. In this book, efforts have been made to describe the damaging symptoms, identification characteristics, biology and management techniques of more than 100 pest species with their coloured illustrations.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Contents: 1. Download and installation of R. 2. Data-reading and writing. 3. Data-overview in R. 4. Data manipulations. 5. Descriptive statistics. 6. Data distribution. 7. Detection of outliers. 8. Data-transformation. 9. Homoscedasticity and heteroscedasticity. 10. Text data pre-processing. We collect data from various sources which have different structure. Before integrating these data for modelling or other purposes, first logical step is the manipulation and pre-processing of data in terms of identifying missing data, detection of outliers, knowing the probability distribution, data transformation, data standardization, etc. These pre-processing techniques aim at improving the quality and accuracy in data interpretation and modelling. However, in many cases, these tests are avoided due to unawareness or due to unavailability of heavily paid softwares.

Zustand: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | This book presents various recently developed and traditional statistical techniques, which are increasingly being applied in social science research. The social sciences cover diverse phenomena arising in society, the economy and the environment, some of which are too complex to allow concrete statements; some cannot be defined by direct observations or measurements; some are culture- (or region-) specific, while others are generic and common. Statistics, being a scientific method ¿ as distinct from a ¿science¿ related to any one type of phenomena ¿ is used to make inductive inferences regarding various phenomena. The book addresses both qualitative and quantitative research (a combination of which is essential in social science research) and offers valuable supplementary reading at an advanced level for researchers.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Soil researchers generate several types of data from classical results of experimental designs, soil physical and chemical analysis and pedological researches. An appropriate visualization of these data and their analysis in form of statistical graphics, plots, and information graphics can stimulate viewer engagement and attention. Besides the classical graphs and charts, representing soil data needs some special infographics such as textural triangle, piper diagram, soil-water retention curves, etc. The data of pedological research needs to be represented in another set of plots which include soil profile graphs depicting the horizons sequence with depth of the soil profile, soil color graphs, and the horizon and color transition sequence probabilities. These graphics can help developing the physiography-soil relationships and segregation of soils. This book explains the use of R platform in producing publication ready infographics from the soil data with examples. The book starts with initial guidance regarding installation of software and packages in R and the procedure of importing and exporting different formats of tabular data into and from R and its manipulation. Then the book explains the visualization of descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and relationships among soil properties. The book provides a practical guideline to prepare soil textural triangles in different classification systems and to visualize pedological and soil survey data in form of soil profile plots, soil color plots, and clustering and segregation of soils based on morphological and physic-chemical properties. A dedicated chapter also discusses visualizing physical and chemical properties of soil water such as, soil water retention curve and Maucha and Piper diagrams representing ions in the soil solution.
