[vi], 500pp. Louis Simond (1767-1831) resided in and travelled through Switzerland near the start of the 19th century. His account of his travels through Switzerland, together with a history of ancient and modern Heltetia, was first publishe…d in two volumes in 1822, with the first volume containing an account of his travels, and the second the history. For sale is the second volume only, from the second edition. It contains the history and is complete in itself in this respect. The book is bound in contemporary half leather over marbled boards with gold titling and gold stamped design with four thin raised bands on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some expected shelf wear on the boards and light scuffing to the leather on the spine. The bottom front corner is bumped with a small bit of loss to the leather on ther corner tip. The contents are tight and clean with five oval purple stamps from a private hotel, dated 1918, on the front and rear endpapers. There is a single similar stamp on page 222.
