This is the scarce second edition of this work, containing two additional letters.These volumes detail the life and works of essayist and Baptist minister John Foster, chiefly comprised of his letters but also featuring a biographical overview from John Shepperd. Foster was a noted theologian of his time whose primary dissent with church doctrine involved 'Duration of Future Punishment', a subject treated at length in some of the letters included in the workWith the contemporary owner's inscriptions, 'Alexander C.
