First edition, early printing of the papers of this business pioneer. Octavo, original cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To Dr. George Rich With appreciation and all good wishes David Sarnoff 68." Very good in a very good dust jacket. David Sarnoff was a businessman and pioneer of American radio and television. Throughout most of his career he led the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in various capacities from shortly after its founding in 1919 until his retirement in 1970. He ruled over an ever-growing telecommunications and media empire that included both RCA and NBC, and became one of the largest companies in the world. Named a Reserve Brigadier General of the Signal Corps in 1945, Sarnoff thereafter was widely known as "The General." Sarnoff is credited with Sarnoff's law, which states that the value of a broadcast network is proportional to the number of viewers.

unbound. Outstanding and important letter, 4 pages, each two-page spread measuring 5.25 x 7.75 inches, New York, April 29, 1951. Written to liberal New York State Supreme Court Justice and author Bernard L. Shintag, in small part: ".In returning this masterful book - I thank you most sincerely for helping to increase my modest knowledge of the law and the philosophies which govern - and sometimes misgovern - its operations. The law is a dynamic and not a static fact of life. Therefore its interpretation depends largely on the Judges who interpret it. As a citizen, I am grateful for such judges as Holmes, Brandeis, Frankfurter, Cardoza and Shientag." Much more great content. At the time this letter was written, Sarnoff was arguably one of the most powerful men in the United States. He controlled NBC and RCA with an iron fist and was nicknamed "The General" due to his staunch hands-on conservative policies. It is ironic that he would be grateful to four of the most liberal Justices to have ever served on the United Supreme Court, especially when their views on Antitrust were a constant threat to his media empire. Tiny chip partially affecting one word on the second page; staple holes at the edge of the natural fold. Very good(-) condition. Russian-born American pioneer businessman who founded the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) and the Radio Corporation of America (RCA).

"Austin c. Lescarboura "April 20th, 1922." Sarnoff was the first to recognize the potential of organized radio broadcasting to stimulate receiver sales - a concept led to his promotion to vice-president of RCA. He was later to become President of RCA, the founder of NBC, and a leader in the development of television. The author was the managing editor of Scientific American. Brown cloth stamped in gilt.
