Small oblong 4to, ff. 54 including 5 translucent gilt printed guide sheets, 4 tabbed card index leaves, and 45 sample pieces of book cloths of different weights and textures, all secured by two brass binding bolts; some slight foxing to title leaf and along tabs; original red Andros cloth, upper cover elaborately blocked in gilt, rear cover with prominent scuff along right hand edge, with further creasing, small dinks, and bumping to surfaces and extremities. Vibrant sample book. The Red Bridge Bookcloth Company was founded in 1927 by J C Cort. For many years family owned, it was acquired by the Whitecroft Group in 1974 becoming Red Bridge (Bolton) Ltd., the company eventually being bought out by the American paper maker Neenah Industrial Solutions. Specialising in coated reinforced papers and coated textiles, Red Bridge materials were used on international passports and other secure travel documents.…

Fourteen tipped-in numbered fabric samples with information in Japanese, tipped in black and white photographs, [14]pp, 29.8 x 22.3cm, papered boards with title label on front cover, accordion style binding. Sample number 8 has some tape residue to the paper but not affecting the fabric. A very nice trade sample book. This kimono fabric sample book for early summer of 1969 showcases beautiful silk fabric pieces of the Omeshi style fabric, namely yarn-dyed silk fabric known for its crisp touches. The Omeshi fabric has been regarded as one of the highest quality and most expensive kimonos. The book, with a title of four seasons, shows fabric samples, photographs of larger pieces, their production locations, product names, prices and weights. Production locations are either Nishijin in Kyoto or Tokaichi in Niigata.…

Ornate title-page with chromolithograph borders in silver, red and black; specimen leaves printed throughout (on the rectos only) in black, red and blue, presenting commercial work invoices, letterhead, etc) in an extravagant "artistic" manner. One leaf of script types pasted in at the rear. Lacking free front endpaper and presumably half-title. Maroon half morocco with pebbled boards, severely rubbed, marbled endpapers. Internally very good. A very interesting specimen book not, as far as I can determine, on COPAC or Worldcat. Furthermore, although the artistic style of printing may not be to everyone's taste, there is nothing provincial about its design or execution. In English the title just might read: 'Collection of samples as Models for Commerce in Industries, Companies, Banks, Transport Companies, Customs Agents, Notaries.'.…

Publisher's red gilt-pictorial cloth, irregularly paginated; text illus. Red spine sample stamped in gilt and black on rear board; alternate blue cloth binding sample laid down inside rear board. A tight, clean example with some mild external rubbing; a few pencil notations to contents pages, correcting chapter titles; advert leaf inserted after text, with followed by 12 ruled blanks at rear for recording orders (unused). No one has used the sign-up sheets at the back, and there are four fresh leather-and-gilt spines at the rear. Oblong 12mo; unpag. nineteen foil sample pages of varied thicknesses with printed glassine interleaves; printed foil-covered wrappers, stapled. The Reynolds Metal Company was founded in 1919 in Louisville, Kentucky by R.S. Reynolds, nephew of the tobacco titan R.J. Reynolds and sold its product as packaging to cigarette manufacturers. In 1930 the company relocated to Richmond, Virginia. Their first foils for home use did not hit the market until after the war. This booklet would have been used to sell packaging materials to larger companies. The inside wrapper notes that the foils "can be embossed, colored and/or laminated to various weight papers and board stock." Each sample is preceded by a printed glassine leaf detailing the sample's thickness in inches and millimeters as well as the area in square inches per pound of foil. Corners slightly bent; a bit of wear and some loss of foil covering to extremities of wrappers.…

Forget-Me-Not Greetings was a division of American Greetings Corp. from 1939-2000. American Greetings started in 1906 as Sapirstein Greeting Card Co. and was not renamed 'American' until 1939. American Greetings has had family in directorial roles since it began in 1906, and is the 2nd largest greeting card company behind Hallmark. Thick, Folio, 13 1/4 x 15 1/2 x 4", Color title page on card, advertisment on verso , contents page with price list ,102pp, with 3 to 8 card samples on every page. Colorful cards mounted on gray card stock bound in a thick red binder, cover detached. Cards in very good condition. One card missing from the first page.…
