Near fine condition. "Taxonomic revisions of Sorocephalus (20 species) have been undertaken. Three new species of Sorocephalus and two new species of Spatalla have been described. Keys to the species of both genera have been prepared and a distribution map is provided for each species. The genus Spatallopsis Phillips is considered synonymous with Spatalla and the criteria used for separating Sorocephalus and Spatalla are discussed. Morphological and phytogeographical evidence is advanced in support of the theory that species of Spatalla with one flowered involucres and racemose inflorescences represent the more advanced condition and could have been derived from an ancestral form with a paniculate inflorescence like Sorocephalus, by reduction in flower number and fusion of the bracteoles.".
