The gilt lettering on the spine and front board retains a pleasing brightness, unoxidised and entirely legible. The textblock is tightly bound; however, the untrimmed edges are significantly darkened and heavily toned, bearing consistent dust-soiling. Internally, there is pronounced browning and offsetting to the front pastedown and free endpapers, likely resulting from poor-quality acidic paper or a previous dust-wrapper. Scattered foxing is evident throughout the preliminary leaves, most notably marring the half-title and title page, though the central text remains crisp, legible, and largely unmarked.
