Young couple Robert (David Hemmings) and Claire (Gayle Hunnicutt) tragically lose their 6-year old son David (Adam Bridge) in an accidental drowning. Claire, traumatized, breaks down, and after multiple suicide attempts is committed to a mental hospital. After her release from the hospital the couple take a trip for a weekend to a secluded Georgian mansion where Claire begins to hear strange, inexplicable voices. Ab 1908 entwickelte er die "Pilzdecke", deren Konstruktion auf Unterzüge verzichtet (1910 Lagerhaus Belmag in Zürich, 1912 Eidg. Getreidelager Altdorf UR, Industriebauten im Ausland). Ab 1924 baute er zahlreiche Brücken. Mit der 1991 von der American Society of Civil Engineers ausgezeichneten Salginatobelbrücke bei Schiers (1930) erreichte er eine Spannweite von 90 m. Er erfand den versteiften Stabbogen (1925 Valtschielbachbrücke in Donat, 1933 Schwandbachbrücke in Rüeggisberg) oder wiederholte den Dreigelenkbogen (1936 Arvebrücke bei Vessy, Gem. Veyrier). Grosses Ansehen trug ihm 1939 die "Zementhalle" für die Schweiz. Landesausstellung ein, eine Schale aus 6 cm Spritzbeton von 15 m Spannweite, die wieder abgebrochen wurde. M. schuf neue Bauformen mit künstler. Ausdruck, indem er Intuition und Erfahrung mit baustat. Urteilsvermögen und experimenteller Untersuchung verband. Seine Brückenbauten bestachen nicht nur durch Nützlichkeit und Eleganz, sondern waren auch preisgünstig. 1936 Ehrenmitglied des Royal Institute of British Architects und 1940 der Fachgruppe für Brückenbau und Hochbau des SIA» (HLS). 1600 gr.
