Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - The book addresses the situation of the urban world in Spain and Portugalin the first quarter of the 21st century. Cities and metropolitan areas have become the key to understanding the organization of the territory and the economic system in the Iberian Peninsula. Iberian cities drive financial-based business, and they constitute the main centers of commerce and tourism, since urban and economic organization are presented as two directly related variables. Thisreality is defined by the primacy of three main cities (Madrid, Barcelona, and Lisbon), followed by six metropolitan areas with around one or two million inhabitants (Porto, Bilbao, Zaragoza, Valencia, Seville, and Malaga). As in thelarge capitals, problems of income inequality and access to housing, mobility, and government also affectthe remaining regional urban systems. This book examines these urban areas throughsix major themes, which are developed in more than 25 chapters. The themes are urbanization, inequality, finance and housing markets, consumers and new residents, mobility, and governance.Contributions from leadinggeographers and urban planners from the most important universities of the Iberian Peninsula comprise this overview of metropolitan areas of Spain and Portugal.

Paris - Buenos Aires, published by the S.A. Revue Illustrée du Rio de la Plata. Issues of ca. 16 pp, with woodcut (zincographs) illustrations. Format in-folio (41 x 30 cm). ON OFFER: The first year (issues 1-12) September 1889 -> September 1890, 186 pp. Bound in publisher's red cloth, with blind decoration on front cover and large gilt title on spine and front cover. Good binding, with minimal traces of use, fine interior notwithstanding a small waterstain in the lower margins of the first 5 leaves. Interesting illustrated monthly general intrest periodical which is testimony of the close relation which existed between France and Argentina. As a matter of fact French immigration into Argentina was at its highest in the years covered by this periodical. The French were the 3rd largest group of immigrants, after the Italians and the Spaniards. French culture (especially architecture) had a great influence on the city of Buenos Aires; named by many the Paris of South-America. The periodical is very rare. There are only 3 entries in the OCLC catalogue. The BN in Paris , with the largest run of this item, lacks all issues after nr. 36. ( it existed until at least issue 48). . The first 37 Issues were published and printed in Paris (printer Alcan-Lévy in the rue Chauchat). From issue 38 onwards printing and publishing was transferred to Buenos Aires (printer Jacob Peuser). We present here a fine bound copy of the first ,12 issues.
