Adorned with numerous humorous illustrations:-and a dozen of "righte merrie" cuts, pertaining to the months, by George Cruikshank (illustrator). 16, 1-[64], 32 pages : illustrations (12 leaves of plates). Rebound in boards, with original paper wrappers laid down and with new endpapers. Binding sturdy, wrappers good, spine soiled; contents very good, Cruikshank plates browned at edges and foxed at verso. 200 grams.

Three volumes bound in one. Each volume contains twelve engravings (one for each month ) by George Cruikshank, with numerous head and tailpieces throughout the text. 110 x 167mm. . Some browning throughout, the first gathering partially sprung but held well inside a neat well kept binding of 1/2 blue calf, gilt lettering and decorations on spine, marbled boards, speckled edges.:

Wear on corners and edges of spine, front hinge cracked from top to middle, paper damage on page 7 affecting some of the text, rear hinge cracked between pages 62/63, some offsetting on pages that face illustrations. Per Cohn, there should be 195 Cruikshank plates, however in 1841 two plates are replace by duplicates of 1841 plates, in 1842 one plate is replaced by a duplicate of another 1842 plate, and the November 1842 plate is missing. Foldouts from 1852 and 1853 are not hand-colored. Therefore, of the expected 195 Cruikshank plates only 194 are present and 191 are as called for. Additionally, Cohn calls for the 1835-37 to have been printed by Tilt, these have Bogue on the title pages. Overall, a worn and slightly imperfect set of the full run of the Comic Almanack suitable for savoring the George Cruikshank plates and text illustrations.
