Warner, spent his vacation in August 1796 in Wales, walking from Bath to Caernarfon and back; he covered 36 miles on the first day and 462 miles in all, at an average of 26 miles a day. Spine ruled and lettered in gilt, with a maroon Moroccan label, but as happens with many of these very old books, this book needs to be opened with care as the front hinge is weak. Also the base and top of the spine are worn, which again is common.

First and only edition.Bound in half-morocco on marbled boards.Illustrations include an title page vignette engraving as well as fourteen engraved plates.This is a comprehensive guide to Roman antiquities that were discovered and preserved in Bath.Contents include an introduction of the history of Bath, which gives information behind the high amount of archaeological remnants found there, as well as chapters on various Roman antiquities. These include a 'monumental stone', an altar, and a sculpture from the fourth century.Written by Richard Warner (1763-1857), an English clergyman, antiquarian, and writer of countless topographical books in and around Bath.This work was published by order of the Mayor of Bath and printed by W. Meyler.With an institutional bookplate to the front pastedown, stating that the book was bequest to the Bath Public Reference Library by Lieut. Col Egbert Lewis in 1934.Collated, complete. [203 x 133 x 10 mm]. xxiv, 132 pp. Original binding of blue paper covered boards, with a large printed pink paper label on the front, rebacked with cream paper, plain endleaves, uncut edges. An amusing satire on fashionable life in Bath by the Rector of Claverton, first published in 1807. This is a very good copy, uncut, in boards, with the printed label, priced at 5s. It also has a loosely inserted folded leaf, with the real names of 35 of the featured characters in manuscript, with a postscript: "this was all that I really can find out, but will do my best to find the rest".

8vo., First Edition, on laid paper, with engraved folding map as frontispiece (two short tears expertly repaired), and 2 engraved plates (one folding); contemporary speckled calf, expertly rebacked to style, new leather label ruled and lettered in gilt, a remarkably crisp, clean copy.
