Warner, spent his vacation in August 1796 in Wales, walking from Bath to Caernarfon and back; he covered 36 miles on the first day and 462 miles in all, at an average of 26 miles a day. Spine ruled and lettered in gilt, with a maroon Moroccan label, but as happens with many of these very old books, this book needs to be opened with care as the front hinge is… weak. Also the base and top of the spine are worn, which again is common.

It also has a loosely inserted folded leaf, with the real names of 35 of the featured characters in manuscript, with a postscript: "this was all that I really can find out, but will do my best to find the rest".
