Guillaume Wets, general manager of the ''Maison de Commerce de Bruges '' disputes certain import duties he has to pay. This letter authorizes Charles Proli to buy two ships which will sail for the newly formed 'Société Impériale Asiatique de Trieste à Anvers' .; the ''Comte de Belgiojoso'' now in Liverpool; and the '' Comte de Zinzendorff '' now in London. In this letter the creditors (Borrekens & Wauwermans) of Charles Proli request the appointment of Cornelis Jacobs as curator of '' le banqueroutier'' Charles Proli. This request was decided in Proli's house on Febr. 20 th . The letter contains the names of all the creditors (ca. 20) and contains also a report of a follow up meeting of Febr. 22nd. where they proposed François Joseph van Campen as co-curator. In this letter signed by the directors of the Société Impériale de Trieste pour le commerce Aziatique; they officially declare that it is their intent to divert the five ships of the company due to arrive from China and destined for the port of Hamburg to the port of Ostend. The reason given is the dangerous pre-war situation along the Dutch coast. 2. Bruxelles, 24 juillet 1781, manuscript letter on paper, written in ink, in-4°, (4) pp (3 blank) , written in French, very neat handwriting, signed by Crumpipen. Mr. Crumpipen, on behalve of Prince de Starhemberg and upon a request of emperor Joseph II invites Charles Proli for a visit to M. de Casier (and) ''le tresorier général'', together with his business partners and Mr. Boltz, to further discuss Proli's request made at the emperor. Letter written on the crucial days between July 23rd and July 26th 1781 when Charles Proli and his partners agreed with Mr. Boltz ; in accordance with the emperor's wish, to form the '' Aziatische Compagnie '' - '' Compagnie Aziatique ''. Proli's old partner Boltz, from whom he was estranged, had the ships and the licence to trade from Leghorn (Livorno); while Proli could provide the financing. This deal led directly to Proli's bankruptcy. (see at length ''Houtman-Desmeth '', Charles Proli, Antwerps zakenman en bankier, (Academie, 1983), pp. 144-147). [2] Document ''B''. 1 pp. Demande d'un octroi pour l'exploitation des fôrets de Buccari. Request for an imperial patent for the exploitation of the forests of Baccari ( the actual Bakar in Croatia). [3] Document ''C''. 1 pp. Conditions du contract à faire avec les Entrepreneurs de Lisbonne, Cadix, ou France pour la livraison du Bois. (Conditions which should regulate the wood trade with Portugal, Spain and France. [4] Document ''E''. 1 pp. Plan économique pour l'administration du commerce des bois. ( A plan , consisting of 7 articles, regulating how the wood trade should be carried out. Document ''D'' and ''F'' of which is written in the ''Mémoire'' are not present here. This ''Mémoire'' and the three remaining additions are written in Fiume (in September 1759) by Balthazar Proli (1722 - 1804), brother of Charles Proli. These documents form a report on how to expand the activities of the ''Compagnie Priviligiée de Trieste et Fiume'' in e.g. the trade of lumber. This company was founded by Charles Proli and received the imperial patent on October 1st 1750. It existed until 1828. Detailed business plan with organisational instructions consisting of 5 points concerning the purchase of a French ship ( the Turgot ) and sending it to Mahé and further to China. On the return voyage it would call at Trieste but this would be a simulated call. The final destination would be Bruges where the market for tea and Nankin silk is excellent.
