Nel 1564 apparve un`edizione alla quale fu aggiunta una seconda parte con le Lettere di M. Vincentio Martelli, gentil`huomo fiorentino, nuovamente aggiunte. Quella delnostro esemplare è la prima edizione curata dal Porcacchi nel1565con l`aggiunta di un 17edeg; libro contenente 37 lettere di undici autori. Si tratta di una fortunata raccolta di lettere, ristampata diverse volte poichè considerata fra le principali opere epistolari del XVI secolo. Esemplare in discrete condizioni conservative, sporadiche macchie e lievi tracce ossidative; lacerazione di qualche centimetro alle pagine 955-956 con perdita di qualche letterina..

Porcacchi's edition was first publish…ed one year after the last Ruscelli?s edition (1564) by Giorgio de' Cavalli at Venice with a dedication to Gregorio Macigni, dated November 17, 1565; it contains in addition a new seventeenth book containing thirty-seven letters by eleven authors. It was reprinted in 1566, 1571, 1576, 1582, and 1584 with various typographical variants.?Nel 1565 uscì a cura di Tommaso Porcacchi, un'ulteriore versione, contenente il diciassettesimo libro, in cui il letterato toscano inseriva numerose sue lettere e di autori noti come Giulio Camillo Delminio, Bernardino Tomitano e Bernardo Tasso, molte delle quali riguardanti la difficile genesi dell'Amadigi, già note al pubblico perché uscite nel secondo libro delle Lettere del Tasso (1560). Porcacchi, ideatore, tra l'altro, della collana storica uscita presso Giolito a partire del 1563, riprendeva la stessa formula del Ruscelli, che consisteva nell'offrire qualcosa di nuovo mantenendo però anche le epistole già presenti nelle altre edizioni, con un processo di accumulazione che andò avanti fino al 1584, quando uscì l'ultima edizione nell'assetto dato dal letterato toscano. In questo modo si può dire che l'antologia dell'Atanagi, con le successive integrazioni del Ruscelli e del Porcacchi, visse una lunga stagione e percorse a partire del 1554, trent'anni del secolo, adeguandosi via via alle nuove esigenze imposte dal clima controriformistico? Born in Castiglion Fiorentino and educated in Florence, Tommaso Porcacchi da Castiglione (1530-1576) later settled in Venice, where he collaborated with the printer Simone Galignani and the engraver Girolamo Porro to produce pet historical projects such as monographs on ancient burial practices and translations of the Aeneid. The present edition is one of Porcacchi's last works (the first edition being released in 1572 with 17 fewer maps; this edition with a colophon dated 1575 to R5V) and is classed as an isolario -- a term used to define an atlas of largely island maps. The tradition of the isolario began in the Mediterranean with early manuscript volumes, and the first printed edition appeared at the hands of Bartolommeo dalli Sonetti in 1485. This was followed by the notable works of Benedetto Bordone in 1528 and, later, Porcacchi himself. This expanded second edition includes a reduced version of Forlani's important map of North America, as well as Temistitan (Mexico), Cuba, Spagnuola, the Moluccas, two new maps of Jamaica and San Giovanni, two world maps, and one sea chart. Two variants in the edition have been observed, with no priority between them established; the present copy has p. 13, line 10 ending 'maraui' and line 11 beginning 'gliosa' where the variant has line 10 ending 'mara' and line 11 beginning 'uigliosa'. Prima edizione collettiva delle Commedie dell`Ariosto. Primo volume dedicato a Severino Ciceri, e il secondo dedicato a Mario Cotti seguono le due operette autonome di Pino da Cagli e Alessandro Piccolomini. Esemplare leggermente corto al margine laterale con perdita parziale nell`ultima opera di Piccolomini di alcune lettere delle note. Al primo volume restauro integrativo con parziale rifacimento del testo all`angolo superiore esterno della carta 7. Raro e pregevole insieme di commedie rinascimentali. Due volumi in 12° (mm130 x 65 ) contenenti tre opere distinte.

Nel testo vi sono 47 mappe delle isole incise su mezza pagina n.t., compreso il mappamondo (copia del Camocio del 1567) e la ''carta da navigare'' con le rotte ed i venti. Seconda edizione, con dedica a Giorgio Trivulzio, di questo celebre isolario, arricchita di 16 nuove carte geografiche rispetto alla prima edizione del 1572. Splendida rara opera, nella quale 8 tavole riguardano le Americhe ed il terzo libro è dedicato alla storia ed alle illustrazioni delle nuove scoperte. Le belle incisoni, in stile Lafreriano, sono opera dell'artista veneziano G. Porro. L'Isolario, si sviluppò in Italia durante il XV e XVI secolo, come guida illustrata ad uso dei naviganti.
