Gewiß, wer sich umfassend über Hitler und seine Zeit orientieren will, wird sich mit den großen Biographien, die in der Nachkriegszeit erschienen sind, beschäftigen müssen. Oldens Buch ist dennoch nicht überholt. Von hohem Interesse bleibt die Auseinandersetzung eines der besten deutschen Linksliberalen mit seinem Antipoden, eine Auseinandersetzung, die Tür Teile der deutschen Emigration repräsentativ gewesen sein dürfte.
