He requests him to have 'a warrant issued, in my favour, for a Buck from The New Forest, as soon after this letter reaches you, as may be convenient - and that you will give the instructions for its disposal'. He gives three numbered instructions regarding the warra…nt's packing and dispatch, adding 'going by the Luggage train is essential, in order that the expence may not be excessive'. In a postscript he asks that the buck be 'killed & dispatched ' when the weather is 'suitable'. Kennedy has attached his calling card to the recto of the second leaf with gummed paper. Signed by 'T. F. Kennedy', it carries his name and address printed on one side, and on the other his office ('The | CHIEF COMMISSIONER | of Her Majesty's Woods, &c., | Whitehall Place, | London.').

Octavo. 52pp. Removed from a nonce volume, a little trimmed slightly affecting the inscription, some offsetting on the title page, else very good. Inscribed: "Josiah Quincy Jr. E[sq.] with the respects of the author." Name of Charles F. Adams written on the title page in a non-author…ial hand (possibly Quincy's). Quincy, a member of the Whig Party, was the second of three Josiah Quincys to serve as Mayor of Boston; Charles Francis Adams, Sr., the son of John Quincy Adams, was a lawyer (and a Whig, and then later a member of the Free Soil Party, and finally a Republican) who studied law with Daniel Webster, served in the House of Representatives, but resigned to become Lincoln's Ambassador to Great Britain from 1861 to 1868, where he, along with his son Henry Adams, who acted as his secretary, was instrumental in maintaining British neutrality and preventing British diplomatic recognition of the Confederacy during the American Civil War.

Little Britain, July 27, 1803, (290 x 230 mm), frayed where untrimmed at edges, closed marginal tear (<200 mm), very good. Scarce rousing broadside against Napoleon's intended invasion of England, for which he amassed troops and barges at Boulog…ne but which never materialised thanks to Royal Naval blockades. The Old Whig here exhorts all lovers of British liberty to put aside internal division and prejudices: 'Be ready with your Bayonet for the first Hostile Foot upon your Shore'. In this variant line 4 ends 'to victory', in another it ends 'to Vic-'.
