In den WarenkorbPamphlet. First Edition. Small 4to. Stiff tan string-tied wrappers. 18pp. Near fine. Superb, bright first edition of this exhibition catalogue of 68 lovelies, organized chronologically and ranging from 1469 (Apuleius, "Metamorphoeseos Liber") to 1895 (Herrick, "Poems"), from the collection of California railroad industry heir, p…hilanthropist and art patron (1884-1948). Arranger O'Day, who also served as librarian of the Nash Typographic Library and the following year authored "A Catalogue of Books Printed by John Henry Nash," there opines: "Mr. Crocker's collection of fine bindings is noteworthy. It includes exemplars of the great masters of each period. Mr. Crocker shows his innate love for fine books, not by the lovely bindings, but by the matter which these beautiful covers enhance, as every book listed is important from one or more standpoints." He also notes that the edition was limited to 500 copies. O'DAY 95.
