Questa pubblicazione in tre volumi è un viaggio visivo attraverso quarant'anni di sculture e disegni di Nancy Rubins. I primi due volumi iniziano con il lavoro studentesco di Rubins, dove emergono i suoi temi, i suoi metodi e le sue ambizioni. Il primo volume affronta numerose sculture su larga scala che incorporano massicce quantità di elettrodomestici usati con cemento e armature, per poi passare a scaldabagni, materassi, parti di aeroplani e piccole barche tenute sospese da reti e cavi. Il secondo volume esplora i disegni spesso giganteschi e scultorei di Rubins, densamente ricoperti di segni a matita. Un libretto finale con una serie di giocosi e candidi autoritratti scattati in una cabina per fototessere automatica della stazione ferroviaria di Baltimora nel 1972-4 completa l'opera.Dagli accumuli di dispositivi domestici dei primi anni Ottanta, che assemblava in gigantesche forme a forma di tornado o di onda anomala, la pratica di Rubins si è evoluta negli anni Novanta fino a includere immensi ammassi di oggetti di grandi dimensioni, come barche, materassi o parti decostruite di macchinari di enorme complessità, come aeroplani e rimorchi. Rubins accumula questi componenti in schemi di crescita biologici o arborei che spesso si ergono a sbalzo sul traffico pedonale sottostante.
