'Lalla Rookh' boosted Moore's already promising poetical reputation, making his poetry rival that of Lord Byron and Walter Scott.Illustrated title page giving the publisher as Estes and Lauriat, Boston, the typed title page stating George Routledge and Sons, London.Thomas Moore was an Irish poet, best known for his poems 'The Minstrel Boy' and 'The Last Rose of Summer' as well as for being the literary executor for Lord Byron, thus burning Byron's memoirs after his death.Illustrations were drawn, reproduced, and printed under the supervision of Fred H. Allen. In the original publisher's quarter vellum binding with patterned cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Light marks to the boards and spine, and a little discolouration to the spine. Spots to the boards, a little heavier to the rear board. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound.
