Made around 1520, the Fetternear Banner is considered to be the only specimen of an ecclesiastical banner surviving from pre-Reformation times in Great Britain. This booklet provides a description of the Banner, together with an account of its historical significance. The book is staple-bound in the original card covers with black titling on the front cover. It is in very good condition with some light shelf wear and a (document repair tape) tape repair to the top of the spine. Pen mark to the margin of page 6, otherwise the contents are clean and bright with no inscription.

The contents are secure and clean with bumping and some dog-ear creases to the top corner of the pages. There is a faint water stain around the top corner of the last four pages and 'The Embroiderers' Guild - Scottish Borders Branch' has been written on the top corner of the inside of the front cover.
