In den WarenkorbZustand des Schutzumschlags: dj. First Edition. [Thriller] FIRST EDITION, first impression. Octavo (20 x 14cm), pp.218; [2], blank. Bound in publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles to spine, pictorial dust-wrapper by Ian Robertson. No inscriptions, contents and edges clean, jacket with tiny tear at foot of spine, price clipped otherwise fine. A Bond-style spy thriller featuring Charles Hood, "a new secret service agent worth keeping an eye on" [Daily Express]. Hood made his debut in Hammerhead, published the year earlier. Author Stephen Coulter was a friend and colleague of Ian Fleming, both working in Naval Intelligence and then as journalists for Reuters and The Sunday Times. The dust-wrapper art, with lipstick and belt buckle against a map background, is clearly influence by the famous James Bond book jackets illustrated by Richard Chopping. From the Jon Gilbert collection (pencilled ownership within).
