Mémoires de l'auteur, né en 1881, originaire du fjord Romsdal (Norvège), qui a consacré sa vie à ouvrir la Sibérie au commerce occidental. Devenu Russe en avril 1914 grâce au Grand-Duc Alexandre Mikhailovitch, il réussit en 1915 à ce que le Spitzberg devienne norvégien. Consul de Norvège en Sibérie, il est à Saint-Pétersbourg lors de la Révolution d'Octobre, rencontre Lénine et est reçu par Trotski. En 1918, il se rend à Omsk pour rencontrer l'Amiral Koltchak. Présent en Russie durant la période de la Nouvelle Politique Economique NEP, il prospecte en 1924 et 1925 pour trouver des gisements de bauxite pour le compte de la Compagnie Américaine de l'Aluminium. En mai 1931, il est chassé d'Union Soviétique. / Russie. Norvège (B).
