A publication about the Hungarian Revolt of 1956 written by C.L.R. James and Raya Dunayevskaya, under the pen name "J.R. Johnson," along with colleague Grace Lee Bogg and French socialist Cornelius Castoriadis, writing as Pierre Chaulieu. James, Dunayevskaya and Bogg, were former members of the Trotskyites far-left group the Johnson-Forest Tendency, but left to create the Correspondence Publishing Committee, which published this book. In 1962 Dunayevskaya and Bogg split from James, so his followers created a new group, adopting the name of this publication. Facing Realty (the group) lasted from 1962-1970, publishing a re-occuring newsletter and several pamphlets. This publication is an uncommon and an overlooked time in James complicated career.…
