Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Much of the previous scholarship on Taiwanese modernist poetry easily falls into ideological arguments. This book participates in the development of an alternative approach to understanding Taiwanese modernist poetry. Dr. Aua (TM)s approach emphasizes the diversity and intensity of experiences of place and placelessness in the work of five poets: Lomen, Luo Fu, Rong Zi, Yu Guangzhong and Zheng Chouyu. The phenomenon of placelessness is a problem in all modernity and so modern aesthetics is an outgrowth of modern societya (TM)s sense of placelessness. This book not only shows how place becomes placelessness but also analyses Taiwanese modernist poetsa (TM) responses to the phenomenon of placelessness. Four kinds of places are examined, namely, the house, the city, homeland and an imagined literary community, in this work. The result is both refreshing and original.

Good. Original Oak Frame. Small circular abrasion southeast of Hong Kong. Size 20.5 x 26.5 Inches. A most curious c. 1975 relief map of Hong Kong created by Chung-to Lo of the Kowloon-based Relief Map Service. Centered on Lan Tao, coverage extends to all of Hong Kong, the New Territories, and Kowloon, reaching as far as Macau, and north to Mount Tung Shan. The map is made of plaster bonded to fiberboard, with a maximum elevation of about 3cm. Topography is precisely hand molded, with terrain, major roads, trains, and placenames hand painted. The map is embraced in its original frame, with the 'Lo Chung To Relief Map Service' placard on the verso. Publication History and Census Although undated, this map was likely produced in the 1970s. We have not seen another example of this map, but we are aware of other Hong Kong relief maps produced by the Relief Map Company, including a more focused map on Hong Kong that does not include Macau. The last such map appeared at China in Print in 2018. Likely these maps were custom made to order, so no two will be identical. Rare.
