Rebound at some point in red cloth, lettered gilt on spine Emily Gerard (1849 Ð1905) was a nineteenth-century author best known for the influence her collections of Transylvanian folklore had on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Printed dedication is a verse to Mark Twain. Gerard spent much of her life in Austria, where she met and befriended Mark Twain. Some marks to covers, slight nick at spine hinge and some rubbing else soud near vg with label oon the fep stating the book was presented to The Cruisers of the Fishery Board of Scotland.

Emily Gerard (1849Ð1905) was a nineteenth-century author best known for the influence her collections of Transylvanian folklore had on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Printed dedication is a verse to Mark Twain. Gerard spent much of her life in Austria, where she met and befriended Mark Twain Soundly rebacked with an archival repair at spine (which was splitting at centre and top edge but now in good order), a few marks and slight wear to covers, otherwise sound, near very good with clean text.

Half title, 16pp cata. (July 1898). Orig. maroon cloth, pictorially blocked & lettered in gilt; spine sl. darkened & a little rubbed at head & tail. Not in Wolff. Contains two extended short stories, 'The Tragedy of a Nose' and 'A Brief Delerium'. Gerard, 1849-1905, published a number of collections of Transylvanian folklore which influenced Bram Stoker in his writing of Dracula.
