Während in dem Symposium (4.- 6.November) die verschiedenen Entstehungsgeschichten der Performancekunst, ihre Medialitäten und Einschreibung in den Kanon der Kunstgeschichte diskutiert werden, zeigt die Ausstellung in der MUMOK Factory unterschiedliche Rezeptions- und Appropriationsformen der Performancedokumentation in der Gegenwartskunst. Präsentiert werden Arbeiten von Carola Dertnig, Daniel Guzmán, Luis Felipe Ortega und Seth Price, die sich mit der Rezeptionsgeschichte der Performancekunst und ihren Dokumentarismen aus den 1960er und 1970er Jahren befassen. In After the Act treten ihre Videos, Fotografien, Grafiken und Zeichnungen mit dem von ihnen als Vorlage angeeigneten Dokumentationsmaterial von Joan Jonas, Bruce Nauman, Paul McCarthy, Terry Fox und dem Wiener Aktionismus in einen visuellen Dialog. Mittels Aneignung, Rekonstruktion und Interpretation erkunden sie das Verhältnis der Performancekunst zur eigenen Geschichte.
