Pages 417-432 are misbound between pages 480 to 481. Though misbound text is complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, boards are a little discoloured with some marks, including a damp stain to the rear board. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with a small amount of loss of cloth. Small crack to the head of the front joint, with a small amount of loss. Very small chip to the backstrip. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, binding has failed between pages 320 and 321, gatherings Y and Z detached but present. Volume VI also features a large fold-out genealogical table of the Granville family.This set presents the life and correspondence of Mary Granville (17001788), an accomplished artist, favourite at the court of George III and Queen Charlotte, and letter-writer whose vivid exchanges offer an intimate glimpse into Georgian society.Volume I opens with her unfinished autobiography and continues with letters from 1717 to 1737, edited with introductions and notes by her great-great-niece, Lady Llanover.
