Complete in six volumes.Including a frontispiece, each copy is illustrated with monochrome plates, with four plates to volume I, five to volume II, four to volume III, four to volume IV, three to volume V and five to volume VI. Volume VI also features a large fold-out genealogical table of the Granville family.This set presents the life and correspondence of Mary Granville (17001788), an accomplished artist, favourite at the court of George III and Queen Charlotte, and letter-writer whose vivid exchanges offer an intimate glimpse into Georgian society.Volume I opens with her unfinished autobiography and continues with letters from 1717 to 1737, edited with introductions and notes by her great-great-niece, Lady Llanover. Granville was also a leading member of the Blue Stockings Society, the influential circle that championed women"s education and intellectual collaboration.
