V tomto smyslu predstavuje jednota vyzkumu a vyuky oxymoron: jedna se o zdanlive ztraceny, ale pritom nikdy neexistujici raj, jehoz vecne hledani pouze zastira soucasne problemy a brani jejich konstruktivnimu reseni. Interdisciplinarni pristup knihy sleduje vyvoj teto ideologie od 19. stoleti do soucasnosti, v mezinarodnim kontextu i v ceskych zemich. Kniha vyvraci stereotyp o oddeleni vyzkumu a vyuky v socialistickem Ceskoslovensku a namisto toho poukazuje na inovativni transformaci humboldtovske ideologie do ideologicke jednoty ,vedy, vzdelani, vychovy a praxe". Obdobi po roce 1989 tudiz neprineslo ,obnovu jednoty vyzkumu a vyuky", naopak vznikl system, ktery propojovani ideologicky vyzaduje, ale nepodporuje: skoly se snazily vyhovet vseobecne deklarovanemu narustu studijnich mist a soucasne narustajicim narokum na vykazovani vyzkumnych vysledku.
